old fashioned sugar cookies

old fashioned SOFT sugar cookies… i am in love!

and i have been since i was little when my mom would make them for my family

you won't find a yummier sugar cookie..
it is melt in your mouth delicious! 

ammon and i were called as gospel doctrine teachers
and i wanted to make our class a yummy treat
what better treat than a fresh, homemade sugar cookie?

our class loved them just as much as i do!

for the cookie:
  • 2 cubes softened butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in 1 tablespoon warm water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups flour
for the frosting:
  • 10 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 boxes of cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

cream butter & sugar until light and fluffy
add eggs, milk, water, vanilla, and salt
stir in flour, one cup at a time
chill dough 2-4 hours

preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
roll dough onto flour-wax paper about "1/3 in thick"
cut into whatever shape you would like
spray cookie sheet 
bake for 8-10 minutes


soften butter and cream cheese
add in sour cream, vanilla and powdered sugar
stir until creamy

frost the cookies with the butter cream frosting
and there you have a heavenly soft sugar cookie!
